Founded in 1986 by Pierre André Senizergues, Etnies is a historical brand of the action sports and streetwear world and it is part of the Californian company Sole Technology Inc.. It was the first skate shoes brand founded by a skateboarder and Etnies also was the first brand to release a pro-model, a shoe specifically developed and dedicated to a professional skateboarder, Natas Kaupas. Pierre Andrè Senizergues, after his professional skating career, begun several design works, full of clever and innovative ideas. When Senizergues founded Etnies, the company was no more than a little emerging European reality. However, thanks to many of its models, such as "Senix", "Lo-Cut", "Intercity", "Low-Top Rap" and "Scam", the former skater launched the brand in the US market, then becoming part of the Sole Technology Inc., along the brands Emerica and èS.
