AFEW x ASICS x KWILLS 'JAPAN DAY'

It was a long road since Afew has introduced the first Afew x Asics Japan Day Event in 2012. It all started with the idea of making a handcrafted in Germany 1-of-1 Gel Lyte III, which was inspired by the colors of the Japanese Koi fish. To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Gel Lyte III, Afew has teamed up with Asics and will release for the first time the Afew x Asics Gel Lyte III 'Koi' in highly limited numbers.

The Afew x Asics Gel Lyte III 'Koi' will feature some new details, which tell the story behind the shoe. As Part of this Year’s Japan Day Event which will take place at the 30th of May, the collaboration will be released in a special Wooden Bento Box exclusively at Afew store. The Bento Box also features two pairs of extra laces (wasabi & soy sauce), a white Afew x Asics Bag and some Afew x Asics Chopsticks.

The sneaker features a 'Koi Camo' outsole that symbolizes the fish, which was the original inspiration behind the first Handmade Gel-Lyte III from 2012. On the Heel you find one 'Afew' and one '家族' (Family) patch, which is a tribute to the Afew Family & Friends. The sock liners feature pictures of the first Japan Day Event and the production of the handmade Gel Lyte III from 2012. To pay homage to the quality of Japanese craftsmanship, the 'Koi' also features some wooden eyelets and premium brown leather on the heel.

To celebrate this fantastic release, Afew has teamed up with the Dutch artist Kwills once again, and they will present the Afew x Kwills Japan Day Anniversary Collection. The collection features 3 t-shirts (2 Flip Editions of the last 2 years tees and a new 'Koi' t-shirt), which will all be released on the 30th of May too.

If you don’t want to miss this special release, then mark your calendar that the launch of the Asics Gel Lyte III 'Koi' project is set for SaturdayMay 30th, at 8:00am at Afew store in Düsseldorf, and if sizes are left, they will go online after the instore release, through a secret link. To be informed about the remaining sizes you have to sign in to the Afew newsletter. Woah!
